Meet Our Doctor
Dr. Maggie Miriam Yamin, OD is a Florida board certified optometrist who completed an accredited residency at Nova Southeastern University in Pediatrics with emphasis on vision therapy and vision rehabilitation. Dr. Yamin graduated from Indiana University School of Optometry and that is where she found her passion for pediatric and special need eye exams, vision related learning problems, and post-concussion vision syndrome. She rotated amongst two private practices in her schooling that offered vision therapy and neuro-optometric rehab as well.
Dr. Yamin is originally from Los Angeles, California and has slowly made her way to South Florida with her Australian Shepherd/Great Pyrenees Mix, Rusty. Dr. Yamin is passionate about giving back to the community as she has provided vision screenings at the Special Olympics 2022 USA Games in Orlando, Florida. A highlight in her career has been teaching optometry students about the mechanics of a pediatric eye exam and growing these students as clinicians.
Dr. Yamin has presented multiple posters centered around pediatric vision care at landmark optometry conferences in the United States. In fact, she is on track to receive her Fellowship in the College of Vision Development and American Academy of Optometry within the next 3-5 years as well. She is also experienced with with different modalities of myopia control such as low dose atropine, soft specialty contact lenses, and orthokeratology.
One vision problem that Dr. Yamin would like to bring awareness to is post-concussion vision related symptoms. Working in the pediatric realm, Dr. Yamin has rehabilitated many adolescents who have suffered sports-related concussion from hockey, football, cheerleading, and lacrosse. From light sensitivity, dizziness, headaches that arise from concussions, eye tracking and eye teaming issues also are affected as well. Dr. Yamin is dedicated to getting students back on track in school and life after a brain jostling incident.
